Cycling Tour of Romania

BRD has been a partner for Romanian cycling for 15 years.

Cycling has a long tradition in Romania, the first velocipedes making their appearance in the streets of Bucharest in 1869.

The first edition of the Tour of Romania took place in 1934 and was won by a Bulgarian. The first Romanian success came in 1950, when the competition was won by Constantin Sandru, from the CCA club.

In 2012, the cyclists’ caravan travelled about 1,200 kilometers in 9 stages, across 15 counties, from Constanta to Marghita.

Through its local representatives, BRD awarded the "yellow shirt" - the most important distinction of the competition, to the winner of each stage, and to the Tour winner.
