BRD has neutralized for the second year its CO2 emissions

BRD has neutralized for the second year its CO2 emissions

For the second consecutive year, BRD buys carbon credit certificates, thus compensating all CO2 emissions corresponding to the year 2011.

The approach is part of the environmental strategy of Societe Generale that has announced that 100% of the emissions from their own activities were offset at the end of 2012, reducing CO2 emissions exceeding 20% / employee, compared to the reference year 2008.

Voluntarily engaged in this process, BRD launched in 2010 the draft Carbon Plan aimed at reducing their own CO2 emissions, with three main areas of intervention: optimizing consumption (especially of electricity, paper, fuel), increasing the energy efficiency of buildings and decreasing the negative impact of the IT business on the environment. In parallel, sites were organised, aiming at improving the reporting process, the implementation of national programs for internal recycling and internal development of eco-responsible practices.

The effort to reduce CO2 emissions will continue, BRD aiming at strengthening its environmental responsibility policy.
